EGS will begin our school-wide read this month. Have you ever heard of a Whangdoodle? If you go to EGS, you will... We will begin this great adventure together because our EGS community believes becoming a reader and reading together generates a lifelong love of reading. We will build a common experience, learn new vocabulary and have some fun. That's what learning to read is all about. Let's get ready for our quest of finding the last of the really great Whangdoodles...
The forecast is predicting a string of cold days. Please remember to bundle up your children with appropriate hats and gloves. When the weather gets over 20 degrees (feels like temperature), we will be going outside. Until then, we will be having indoor recess to ensure student safety.
Thank you! I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing winter break and are ready to get back to the routine of school. I also want to welcome you to the new online EGS News. This page will be updated regularly and will have updates and news from the EGS community. What to look for in January 2018...January 2nd - Back to School January 3rd - All School Meeting - The second All School Read will be announced. Please ask your children what we will be reading together. January 8th - PTO Meeting - We will be planning the First Annual Winter Carnival - ALL are invited January 10th - Cape Ann Symphony Demonstration for Grades 4 and 5 January 10th - Early Release January 15th - No School - MLK Jr. Day January 17th - Site Based Council Meeting January 26th - Grades 4 and 5 will visit the Cape Ann Symphony at Manchester Essex Regional High School January 27th - The First Annual Winter Carnival January 30th - Early Release Data Meetings will be taking place throughout the month of January. This is a time to take a close look at student progress, celebrate success, and make adjustments to ensure student growth. The Maritime will visit Grades 3, 4, and 5 to present in school science lessons throughout the month. When thinking about mid-year data meetings...When thinking about mid-year data meetings it is important to remember that we are all growing and working to improve. The teachers at EGS have been taking a close look at the Growth Mindset and will be discussing the difference between a growth mindset and a fixed mindset.
